First hour: A return appearance by A.S. Berman, author of Soap: The Unauthorized Inside Story of the Sitcom That Broke All the Rules, plus Tony Figueroa and Donna Allen with a special tribute to Robert Guilluame. Second hour: Ed and Greg Ehrbar welcome actress, author, philanthropist and children’s rights advocate Joyce Bulifant (Match Game, The Mary Tyler Moore Show, Love Thy Neighbor, The Happiest Millionaire, Airplane!). Joyce’s book, My Four Hollywood Husbands, tells the story of her life and career, interwoven through the story of her marriages to James MacArthur, Edward Mallory, William Asher and Roger Perry, as well as her relationships with Helen Hayes, “The First Lady of the American Theater” (and the grandmother of two of Joyce’s children), Lillian Gish (whom Joyce considers her “Fairy Godmother”), Jack Weston, Jack Warden, and many others. It is also a story about eternal love that serves as a reminder of the hurtful actions that alcoholism and addictive behavior can have on others, ourselves, and most important, our children. Also in this hour: Actor, playwright and composer Roger Perry, aka “Hollywood Husband No. 4,” makes a surprise visit and talks about his work on The FBI, Star Trek and other shows. Plus: Phil Gries with Part 3 of our tribute to Will Jordan as part of The Sounds of Lost Television, including audio highlights of Jordan’s appearance on The Red Skelton Hour.
Joyce Bulifant also has several appearances coming up in the weeks and months ahead, including a benefit performance with Lesley Ann Warren, her co-star from The Happiest Millionaire, on Dec. 3 in New York, as well as events in Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Florida and Rancho Mirage, California.
