First hour: Part 2 of our conversation with Wesley Hyatt, author of The Carol Burnett Show Companion: So Glad We Had This Time, and Chris Korman, son of Harvey Korman, as we commemorate the golden anniversary of the premiere of The Carol Burnett Show. Topics include the ill-fated decision to replace Korman with Dick Van Dyke after Harvey left the Burnett show in 1977. Second hour: Ed welcomes author, journalist and screenwriter Beverly Gray. Beverly’s latest book, Seduced by Mrs. Robinson: How The Graduate Became a Touchstone for a Generation, not only provides the backstory of the making of The Graduate, but examines the various critical reactions to the film, and why it particularly struck a nerve with moviegoers who came of age in 1967. December 2017 marks the fiftieth anniversary of the release of The Graduate.
Beverly Gray has several appearances coming up in the weeks and months and ahead, including Sunday, Dec. 3 at American Jewish University in Los Angeles, beginning at 3pm; The Tucson Festival of Books in Tucson, Arizona on Mar. 10 and 11; and Thursday, Apr. 12 at Bloomsbury Books in Ashland, Oregon.
